Job description
A well established greetings card business in Chichester seeks a talented Market Research Manager to join their team.  The purpose of the role is to develop and implement a programme of research into the market and consumers of this brand. Responsibilities:   To shape future product development and drive effective sales and marketing activities through undertaking the following:   §         Define, develop and implement rolling market research programmes to include the planning of future data requirements, ensuring the team are able to evaluate market and consumer opportunities. §         Deliver actionable insight and recommendations from these programmes that will directly influence business strategy and decision making. §         Drive insight gathering and delivery of robust, insightful and timely research. §         Manage all ad hoc and continuous customer research programmes for the business, ensuring most appropriate insight techniques selected and all programmes delivered to time and budget §         Encourage the business to use research in its development of products and marketing strategies. §         Champion the best use of research techniques and methodologies across all research projects. §         Continually challenge the business with fresh insights to maintain consumer focus. §         Help develop powerful brand and product propositions. §         Management and delivery of strategic and tactical research projects. §         Competitor analysis responsible for driving competitor intelligence and evaluation and implement a competitor intelligence network within the business. §         Enhance the company's understanding of consumer behaviour and motivations. §         Marketing and promotion recommendations and evaluation of effectiveness. §         Reporting on trends and impacts (markets, consumers, retailers, competitors etc.) §         Analysis of company performance and brand tracking §         Analysis of market and industry trends across categories with detail of the implications for marketing activity and business planning. CORE VALUES & PERSON PROFILE § Currently, or most recently, in a market research or analyst role preferably from a background of consumer goods or retail. § Thorough knowledge of market research applications and techniques, proven experience in primary and secondary research sources and in-depth knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques, both ad hoc and continuous. § Inquisitively minded with a focus on consumers and products § A strong aptitude for understanding consumers coupled with the ability to turn data into useful and actionable insights. § Good organisational skills with a proven ability to coordinate multiple projects efficiently and accurately § Able to actively and openly communicate complex information so that it is understood across all business disciplines and at all levels § Excellent at building strong open relationships, assertive but diplomatic. § Well organised and thorough with a high attention to detail § Able to adapt quickly and readily to changing environments § Performs well and is calm and stable under pressure § Seizes initiative and takes ownership with a high drive for results § Challenges current working practices, exploring opportunities for establishing new, or improvements in existing, working practices § Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite
