Our client, who delivers innovation in technology through design and manufacturing processes, has an urgent requirement for a Product Engineer based in Worcestershire.
This is a key role within the Engineering department, analytically supporting and leading the development of new concepts of Cryogenic Coolers (JT and Stirling). Working as part of the project team, the Product Engineer has the overall responsibility for verification of new designs from a functional, strength and manufacturability perspective.
The Product Engineer is therefore expected to be both analytically capable and also have a practical knowledge of manufacturing methodologies and the need for process control. The successful candidate will be a Champion of Change seeking to develop technology and improve products, processes, efficiency and profitability etc.
As Product Engineer you other responsibilities will include:
•To develop with supporting analyses system level concepts for hardware, test rigs and processes that adhere to customer's performance, qualification & safety specifications, whilst adhering to milestone, cost and quality requirements.
•Product performance and stress analyses to confirm suitability and acceptability of product designs, assimilating external and system effects.
•Additional analyses e.g. reliability, magnetic circuit, as project requirements dictate.
•Ensure design files are maintained for products under development to include required documentation and supporting engineering calculations to an appropriate standard.
•Support production of technical proposals for new business enquiries specific to the group and support the sales function as required.
•Drive engineering process improvement measures and activities that will improve integrity, quality and cost effective production to enhance customer satisfaction.
•Identify and advise suitable training for team members to develop the overall skill base of the department.
•The ideal candidate is likely to have career aspirations towards a Chief Engineer role responsible for technical excellence
Skills Required:
•A creative but practical problem solver who is technically and analytically strong.
•Strong Mechanical Engineering and mathematical bias.
•A well rounded engineer from a manufacturing industry background who is able to draw on a range of experience and knowledge, particularly in the following areas:
•Analytical experience of systems/applications requiring Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics.
Education Required:
BSc/BEng (1:1 or 2:1) Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering or alternative. Significant engineering experience in an aerospace/defence or high precision (e.g. Fluid Control, Instrumentation) environment, in a position with a strong analytical bias.
