Job description
Production Engineer Privately owned with a significant equity backing, The company manufactures a broad range of small geared motors and has recently expanded with an acquisition of another leading UK manufacturer within the same industry. The company enjoys a premium brand value in theUK and believes there is significant opportunity to increase brand value globally. Role This role will be principally based from our Headquarters in Bournemouth; however, regular UK travel within the first 6 months is anticipated. Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, the Production Engineer will be responsible for: - 1 Identification of manufacturing needs for new products in development and provide facilities and methods to ensure cost effective integration into manufacturing operations. 2. Reduced variability in manufacturing by providing standard work methods and work instructions. 3. Supporting the companies Continuous Improvement Methodology through the analysisof KPI data to drive the elimination of waste, utilising Lean, 6 Sigma and other bestpractice techniques. 4. Ensuring the companies Safety and Environmental obligations are met andmaintained. 5. Training and development of production staff to ensure compliance to standard operating procedures. 6. Overall efficiency and productive up-time of flow and production lines. 7. Providing engineering support in the preparation of FMEA and Supplier development documentation. 8. Maintaining engineering change request system and preparation of drawing modifications in line with such. Candidate The individual will be an experienced Production Engineer with a minimum HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering having had exposure to leanmanufacturing methods and quality methodologies such as 5S, Kanban, 6- sigma etc. Page 2 of 2 The individual should be practical and innovative with mechanical designs and have experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks/Autodesk Inventor) for the engineering of equipment,systems and components. Ideally the individual will have experience of production engineering of castings, injection moulding, gear design and assembly techniques. A practical and dynamic approach must be supported by a broad engineering knowledge and expertise. Salary £25k to £32k dependant on experience and qualifications. 23 days holiday.
