Business Overview
The Rotatives Supply Chain Unit is responsible for the design, procurement and manufacture of rotating components. Within this scope, the Shafts Business in Derby has the responsibility for the manufacture of Mainline Shafts, Single Piece Stub Shafts and Welded Assembly Stub Shafts against defined cost, quality, and delivery targets. The Business is currently working to identify, and develop dual capability manufacturing partner companies to satisfy future growth in demand for each of these three commodity groups.
Job Specification
To lead the Manufacturing Engineering activity transferring specific component part numbers to one of three suppliers, located in Asia or the USA three vacancies have arisen for experienced Manufacturing Engineers or Laboratory Technologists.
Key Accountabilities include.
• Developing robust capability in one selected supply chain partner company, in the required timescales.
• Ensuring standardisation of Methods of Manufacture and best practice between the domestic Shafts plant and the partner company.
• Working with domestic, RR regional and supplier technical teams to minimise disruption during part transfer in terms of part/process approvals and non-conformance.
• Developing and motivating direct reports.
• Effective stakeholder communication and management.
Person Specification
For the role, you will be qualified to degree level in an engineering discipline or possess significant relevant experience. The following attributes would be beneficial:
• Knowledge of machining and special processes applicable to Shafts manufacture.
• Experience of the design and implementation of new capability in focused factories.
• Strong customer focus and a proven ability to deliver against deadlines and timescales.
• Experience of Quality Assurance processes and procedures applicable to offload activity.
• Practical experience of previous offload packages.
• Project Management experience.
• Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels within the SCU and supply partners.
• Willingness to be based for potentially long periods of time in either Asia or the USA depending on the location of the selected supplier to meet the needs of the project.
