Privately owned with a significant equity backing, the company manufactures a broad range of small geared motors and has recently expanded with an acquisition of another leading UK
manufacturer within the same industry. The company enjoys a premium brand value in the
UK and believes there is significant opportunity to increase brand value globally.
Role
This role will be principally based from our Headquarters in Bournemouth; however, regular
UK travel within the first 6 months is anticipated. Reporting to the Operations Director, the
Quality Engineer will be responsible for: -
1. Establishing appropriate product test methods to ensure product quality and warranty
compliance.
2. Investigation and effective resolution of internal, supplier and customer related non-
conformities using 8D methodologies.
3. Support new product introduction by preparing advanced product quality planning and
parts submission documentation in line with program need dates.
4. Provide quality input to the Engineering department in the preparation and
maintenance of FMEA and Supplier selection documentation.
5. Analyse warranty returns and implement corrective actions in order to drive
improvements in product quality and robustness.
6. Perform statistical process control analysis of key manufacturing processes and
suggest corrective actions to ensure compliance to print tolerances.
7. Conduct internal product and process audits to ensure compliance to the companies
Quality Management System.
8. Review plant quality KPI statistics and drive improvements in line with company
Targets.
Candidate
This role provides a unique opportunity to take responsibility for the quality of a significant
manufacturing operation. The individual will be an experienced Quality Engineer with a
minimum HNC or equivalent in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering having had
exposure to lean manufacturing methods and quality methodologies such as 5S, Kanban, 6-
sigma etc.

The individual should be practical and innovative with mechanical designs and ideally have
experience within quality control of castings, injection mouldings, gears and assembly
techniques. A practical and dynamic approach must be supported by a broad engineering
knowledge and expertise.
