One of the UK's largest Aerospace and Engineering consultancies is looking to recruit an experienced Project Controller.
This role is tasked to co-ordinate multiple projects and tasking within a given area of responsibility; ensuring team members have the relevant tasking documentation and budget/schedule awareness. You will be the key liaison between the Engineering projects and the Finance, Commercial and Operations area to ensure order cover, invoicing and WIP/debt are appropriately managed.
Successful candidates for this role should have experience of the tasking of multi-disciplined teams on a variety of aerospace-related projects.
The Project Controller should recognise the need for all project activities have a robust and appropriately granular and comprehensive Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and the requirement for individuals to be tasked (with appropriate order/F20 cover) using the F38 process.
You should have experience of financial, schedule and customer reporting to provide support to the Leader Engineer to present project status at project reviews, including the maintenance and update of project plans on an ‘as required' basis.
Proposed candidates should show strong inter-personal skills and the ability to enable effective communication in a pressurised team environment to ensure effective liaison with engineering staff within their area. This includes the regular (weekly) monitoring of project spend and identification of cost to complete in order to prepare the required level of internal and customer reporting.
The Project Controller should also have experience of the compilation and maintenance of Change and Risk Registers to appropriately capture and manage the deviations from the original Statement of Work.
Principal Accountabilities within this role:
Operating within a position of key project importance, the Project Controller will be expected to undertake the following:
The collation of critical business information and preparation of key business reporting to support the business review process for the Chief Engineer and Business Manager. This includes the organisation, distribution, collation and presentation of the customer feedback forms (F161) in their area.
Co-ordination of the tasking of engineers through the F38 process and establishing agreement of the proposed budget, ensuring the appropriate order cover is in place.
Structured, regular and effective internal and external communication through acting as a key point of contact for engineering staff for matters associated with project performance.
Maintenance of the project plans, risk register and change register in support of engineering activities.
Report and discuss, in the first instance, with the appropriate CE&BM any overspent or forecast overspend tasks. This should be escalated to HoF/HoO as appropriate.
Review task progress and ensure that invoicing opportunities are identified to Finance and action as soon as possible.
You will be required to maintain regular interfaces at all levels of Company operations to ensure business performance requirements are achieved and projects managed in accordance with team requirements. Typically these may include:
Chief Engineer & Business Manager.
Team Leaders/Engineers within the project teams.
Functional Chief Engineers (Design, Stress, ME, KBE).
Head of Operations. Finance and Commercial.
Quality and I T professionals.
Issues should be dealt with promptly but rationally and without the sacrifice of programme integrity for the sake of customer expediency.
Ideally you should possess a degree, HND/HNC or equivalent.
