A leading International engineering company are looking for a Trainee Sales Support Engineer, to provide technical sales support.



This position is ideally suited to a Graduate in engineering in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, although other Engineering disciplines also considered. Ideally with knowledge of Flow Meters/Analytical equipment.



Role is suitable for those wishing to develop into Field Sales Engineering or Technical Support roles.



Main Duties:



- Generally acting as first point of customer contact, including:

- Provide the first line of technical support to customer for the 3 product lines (Flow, Analytical, R&C).

- Maintain a record of the problems encountered and the solutions implemented.

- When product problems arise, inform Product Managers, in order to create awareness of the problem and analyse future product improvements.

- Log all customer complaints through QA. Discuss logged complaints with Quality Manager or Product Line Managers and agree possible solutions.

- Take responsibility for the resolution of the complaint, follow-up all actions related to the problem and communicate the results to the customer. - Ensure all Customer Complaints are handled in a customer-focussed manner.

- Formulate quotations for project above 10k, special products or bundle prices for projects using the established format.

- Build when required, ACOST sheets (margin analysis) to evaluate the discount required.

- Log the enquiry in the sales database and maintain a clear record of the price agreed with the overseas customer.

- Raise S.A.R.s for special products or projects according to the Export Office procedures.

- If necessary, raise delivery enquires according to the Export Office procedures.

- Follow-up on quotations within a defined time scale. Record the results.

- Large Projects: Analyse complex technical specifications and advise the customer on suitable products fort he application. Provide costing and margin information to Regional Sales Manager that would enable them to make decisions on tenders / projects.

- Assist Product Management, when required, with Technical Support Manuals, product problem solving, brand awareness etc.

- Benchmark technically competitors products, produce comparative sheets and lock up specification sheets that help the sales team to secure orders.

- Answer customers enquires by phone or e-mail in a polite and professional manner, maintaining a record of the enquiry.

- Be prepared to take on other tasks within the team, necessary to achieve team objectives.

- Perform Product Overviews and Factory Tours for guests.



Person Specification:



- Graduate in engineering, technical understanding of products such as Flow Meters, Analytical Equipment etc.

- Organisational skill, ability to set priorities and define tasks.

- Negotiation and presentation skills that enable you to discuss issues with Senior Management, and achieve objectives such as setting lead times with Product Line Managers and customers.

- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

- Ability to build relationships with peers and major customers, informal networks and patterns of influence.
