Our Client is an expanding West End London law firm and at present they have an opportunity within their Commercial Department for an Intellectual Property & Commercial PSL solicitor. This sector advises on wide range of rights-related issues, helping clients to create, protect and commercialise their intellectual property rights in the most effective way. You will be joining a department with four Partners, four Solicitors and one Barrister. You will be working a wide range of matters; Risk management Conducting "due diligence" investigations into corporate transactions and audits of a client's intellectual property. Ensuring the appropriate allocation of risk and exposure between the parties in IT contracts, e-commerce and research and development collaborations. Creating and protecting rights Registering trade marks, designs and domain names for new ventures. Managing existing registration portfolios. Ensuring that all appropriate measures are taken to protect the intellectual property rights of our clients. Exploiting rights Contractual exploitation of rights in agreements in a wide variety of industries. These include publishing, literary estates, television broadcasting, film production, brand extension, website development, software licensing, exhibition development and exploitation, as well as research and development collaborations between universities and industry, distance learning initiatives and technology transfer. Enforcing rights Giving practical advice on the enforceability of rights, whether as the rights-holder or the potential infringer. Advice on litigation where this is a possible outcome, whether to enforce intellectual property rights or to defend infringement claims from third parties.
